What actually drives people inside
The fastest way to make an outdoor space unpleasant is a bright fixture in somebody's line of sight. A bare bulb at eye height blows out your night vision, so the yard turns into a black wall. Aim for illumination without a visible bulb.

An unlit patio stops being usable in October. A lit one keeps working through the shoulder months and into the evening year round. Mild evenings are not limited to July, and the dark is what keeps people indoors. The lighting is what converts them into usable time.
Insects
Anybody who has sat under a porch light in summer has shared it with insects. Insects respond more to cooler and bluer light than to warm light, so a warm setting over a seating area is the better choice for more than one reason. It helps. That is all.
